Steadyhand Monthly Update - December 2008

Steadyhand
December 2008

What's New?

Market Perspective Webinar
If you missed our 'Market Perspective' presentations in November, you can tune into a live webinar on Thursday, December 4th at 10:00 AM PST (1:00 PM EST).  Tom Bradley will discuss the recent market turmoil, review our funds' performance and field questions from interested participants. Click here to register.

Co-investment Articles
Co-investment is arguably the greatest form of alignment between fund manager and investor, yet there is little attention and reporting on the practice.  In an effort to improve transparency on the issue, we have written two articles which examine the importance of co-investment and provide details of the level of alignment between our employees, fund managers and clients. Both articles are available in the Library section of steadyhand.com.

Year-end Distributions
A quick reminder that with the exception of the Savings Fund, the year-end distributions of all our funds will be calculated on December 15th and paid on December 16th. Management fee rebates for all funds will be paid on December 11th. The distribution for the Savings Fund will be calculated on December 31st.

Holiday Hours
Our office will be closed on Christmas and Boxing Day, and we'll be closing early with the market on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. Through the rest of the holidays, we'll be working normal business hours.

Inside Steadyhand

We're pleased to welcome aboard our newest employee, Sherileen Gray.  Sher will work closely with Tom in a client service/executive assistant role.  No pressure Sher, but your first task is to turn these markets around.

Highlights from the Blog

Don't Try This at Home
Tom rants about why fancy investment products should have a warning label on them.

Armchair v. Professional Investor: These Days it's a Much Fairer Fight
In his Globe and Mail column, Tom opines on how the playing field is leveling between the professional and individual investor.

Progress on Fund Fees
With the emergence of some lower fee funds in the advisor channel, maybe the mega fund companies' pricing power is being eroded.  We can only hope.
