Who Can Explain Today’s Markets?

While we don’t claim to have the answers, we do have a team that that lives with the markets’ ups and down on a daily basis. They don’t have the answers either, but they can offer words of advice to help you make the best of a tricky situation, and even make some sound investments along the way.

  • Stick to Key Principles During Market Declines and Uncertainty. During uncertain times, stock markets tend to swing wildly between extremes of optimism and pessimism. Kate Warne advises us to focus on seven key principles.
  • Simple Solutions for a Healthy Household. Karen Wolfe-Milner gives some tips about keeping control of your finances by taking a look at our spending and purchasing patterns, and how we can change them to our advantage.
  • Exploiting Market Inefficiency. Information is one of the keys to success in the market, Wilfred Vos says that puzzling out what factors could impact the price of a stock is a real advantage.
  • Active Fund Performance at a Passive Price. Norman Rothery takes a look at active mutual funds with low turnover or that don’t trade frequently and should appeal to long-term investors.
  • Exxon Good. GM Bad. Exxon is doing fine; GM not so well. Francis D’Andrade questions what will happen when GM starts making smaller more fuel-efficient vehicles which don’t require as much of Exxon’s product as before.

We hope that after you’ve read this issue’s offerings that you’ll have a better fix on what’ going on in the investment world. If you have your own thoughts, we’d like to hear from you.
