Market Alert: Could Bank of America (BAC) Be Ready For A Full Recovery?

Stocks opened higher this morning on reassuring news on the labor and mortgage fronts. The Labor Department said initial jobless claims fell to 601,000, beating economists' estimates of 615,000. Meanwhile, RealtyTrac reported that foreclosures fell fell 6 percent in May from April to 321,000. The number represented the lowest year-on-year increase since June 2006. Additionally, the Commerce Department said retail sales rose 0.5 percent in May, matching expectations. Taken together, these signs suggest that the recession could be moderating. Hopes for an economic recovery pushed oil futures near $72 per barrel, while gold futures declined.
