What’s Happening In The Market Now... The market opened lower this morning on a variety of dismal economic news. The Labor Department reported that productivity grew by 1.3 percent during the third quarter, down from a 3.6 percent increase during the second quarter. BlackBerry-maker Research in Motion Ltd. (RIMM) cut its third-quarter guidance this morning. Both pieces of news sent the Dow down by 180 points at the open, triggering investors' worries of an extended recession. Sectors starting the day out strong include independent power producers and diversified suppliers while metals and mining, steel and wireless services are down. Volume leaders include Constellation Energy Group Inc (CEG), Citigroup Inc (C), JP Morgan Chase and Co (JPM), Microsoft Corp (MSFT) and Oracle Corp (ORCL).
