Go to top Volatility Alert: Major Market Indices Fall, Leaving Fear Indices Higher on the Week Stocks declined last week, but recovered some of these losses Friday despite a very bearish employment report. The Dow ($INDU) fell 193.62  points, or 2.19 percent, to close the week at 8,635.42. The S&P 500 ($SPX) gave up 20.17 points, or 2.25 percent, to 876.07. The Nasdaq ($COMPQ) lost 26.26 points, or 1.71 percent, to 1,509.31. Though we did see declines on the week, these losses were only a fraction of the gains seen in the prior week.
