What’s Happening In The Market Now... The market was down at the open this morning. The Commerce Department said personal incomes fell by 0.7 percent in July, below the drop of 0.1 percent analysts had predicted. The government also said consumer spending rose a modest 0.2 percent, meeting the market's expectations. Oil prices are again higher as Gustav nears the Gulf of Mexico. Sectors starting the day out strong include homebuilding, integrated telecom and managed healthcare while mortgage finance, paper products and computer hardware are down. Volume leaders include General Electric (GE), Financial Select Sector (XLF), Marvell Technology (MRVL), UltraShort Financials ProShares (SKF) and Nokia Corp (NOK).
