What’s Happening In The Market Now... The market continued yesterdays fall at the open this morning. The Labor Department reported wholesale prices shot up more than twice the expected gain, hitting 1.2 percent in July. Core prices, which exclude food and energy, rose 0.7 percent. The Commerce Department reported home building projects started in July fell 11 percent to the lowest annual rate in more than 17 years, while building permits tumbled 17.7 percent. On the positive side, with tropical storm Fay avoiding wells and other oil installations in the Gulf of Mexico, oil prices are down. Sectors starting the day out strong include coal, platinum & precious metal and consumer electronics while renewable energy equipment, full line insurance, business training and forestry are down. Volume leaders include Intel Corporation (INTC), American International Group Inc Corp (AIG), Wachovia Corporation (WB), JP Morgan Chase and Co (JPM) and Amylin Pharmaceuticals Inc (AMLN).
