What’s Happening In The Market Now... The market dropped at the open this morning. Oil prices edged up as the U.S. dollar lost some ground against the euro and the Japanese yen, sending money back into commodities. Also concerning investors is the possible bailout of Fannie Mae (FNM) and Freddie Mac (FRE). The National Association of Realtors reported sales rose to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5 million units. Sales had been expected to rise by only 1.6 percent and home sales were 13.2 percent lower than a year ago. Sectors starting the day out strong include home furnishings, oil & gas refining and airlines while trucking; real estate management, tires & rubber and apparel are down. Volume leaders include Grey Wolf Inc (GW), Advanced Micro Devices Inc (AMD), Wachovia Corporation (WB), Pfizer Inc (PFE) and General Motors Corp (GM).
